In a move that one would be more like to expect to come from the guys sitting around the front tables at the Carleton Tavern, the Muslim Canadian Congress is reported by the Canadian Press to be asking for the federales to ban burkas and niqabs in public.
The wearing of the face covering and identity obscuring garments by Muslim women is a cultural, not religious thing.
But, hey, if we are a free country, shouldn't people be, uh, free to wear garments like burkas and niqabs?
