The province of Manitoba, the land of friendly lakes, skies, moose, I think that is what it says on the license plates is going to have a new Premier when we all wake up Sunday morning.
Gary Doer, who has run the province in the middle of the country for eons is passing the torch tomorrow as he prepares to move south to the United States of A to become Stephen Harper's man in 'merica. By eons I mean Mr. Doer has led the Dips since 1988 and been Premier since 1999.
Tamara King of CJOB 68: Manitoba's Information Superstation says that the two front runners, longtime Finance Minister Greg Selinger and Steve Ashton, who has held several portfolios, have stopped campaigning per se but the Winnipeg Sun says that both were very active Friday. The Sun also says that the race Saturday is super close but if anyone has a bit of a lead it is Dr. Selinger.
If you are a political junkie CJOB 68 will have live coverage at http://www.cjob.com/ from 1 to 4 Manitoba time.
If you aren't a political junkie why have you read this far?
