995...More Bad News For Canuckistanians

Your national broadcaster, the CBC, reports some bad news from the world of political polls.

"The EKOS poll, released Thursday exclusively to the CBC, found that 39.7 per cent of respondents supported the Conservatives, while the Liberals had 25.7 per cent backing. The New Democratic Party had the support of 15.2 per cent of respondents, with the Green Party and the Bloc Québécois both at 9.7 per cent."

Happy days are not here again.

  1. Maybe you will now start bashing the Conservatives more - you know, the actual government that we the Liberals are the Official Opposition to - rather then take liberal potshots at the Greens and Elizabeth May all the time.

  2. Elizabeth May is still the worst leader of the five national leaders.

I will bet you any amount, cash up front if you want, that she finishes a miserable second in Saanich and gets the same number of seats as last time while siphoning off progressive voters who would vote for us or the NDP.

  4. The moral to this story is that you should NEVER piss off the voters by threatening an election less than a year after the last one.

This is the THIRD time these kids of polls have happened. It happened last June and it happened last December. Every time the Liberals threatened to upset the government, the polls tank for the Liberals. You would think the Liberal party would get the message.

I've always felt the public might reach the 'tipping point' on minority governments if the opposition pushed an election too soon. It's quite possible Harper may get his majority now, because Ignatieff couldn't wait until next year to before rumbling about an election.

  5. She's without a doubt the least successful, but that doesn't mean she's the worst. I think Harper holds that title.
