1011...Here We Go Again In La Belle City, La Belle

CBS Sports runs with the story that the Quebec Nordiques may be back in the NHL.

Mayor Regis Labeaume said Saturday he met with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman in the Big Apple and was told that if they build a suitable arena and there is a team for sale, uh, like, Phoenix, you could be back in the big leagues Quebec City.

Moving the Phoenix Coyotes to Quebec City after this season would have a double purpose.

First off, it would get them out of Phoenix and into a hockey, hockey, hockey market.

Secondly, and this might be more important to Mr. Bettman and the NHL, moving the Phoenix club to anywhere but Southern Ontario and selling it to anyone but Jim Balsillie would be a nice bitch slap and that seems to be one of the things that has driven major league hockey for the last several decades.

By the way, an NHL team in Quebec City is doomed to failure for the same reason the team tanked in the mid 1990s and it has nothing to do with the fan base and everything to do with the town.
