Rex Roy, who writes the Car Culture column in the Detroit News, has a story sourcing the AutoVantage Road Rage Survey that lists Detroit as the 3rd least courteous city to drive in in the States; NYC and Dallas-Fort Worth are one and two.
Of course if one was to include the Great White North, Montreal would be so on top of the list, but, I digress.
Michigan State Police First Lt. Thad Peterson postulates in the story that the accounts of road rage are overblown by people in the media like, well, me. He also thinks that "...major contributors to aggressive driving include: speed limits that are too low for the road; traffic congestion; and poorly timed traffic lights. These act as instigators to drivers speeding, changing lanes and tailgating, all characteristics of "aggressive" driving."
