5698...Canada Comes Of Age

Sure James Naismith was a Canadian and he did invent the game but truly basketball has always been the pure American sport, with apologies to the former Yugoslavia.

In part to the huge spike in immigration from Eastern Africa twenty years ago, thank you Jean Chretien, we have gone from 1/1000 kids playing big time hoops to 1/100 and soon it will be 1/10 or 1/5 big time players will come from Canada.  Toronto, and it pains me to say this, has become one of the pre college basketball capitals of the world.  The boy pictured below, on the right, is Andrew Wiggins, out of Vaughn, a burb of the big city.  He is considered by most to be the best player in the world right now who is not in the NBA.

Be proud.
