1015...Enjoying Your Day Off? Thank The Liberals!

It is a great day to be alive, lying in bed, no work, raking the leaves, watching football, playing with the kids, fixing the yard up, making that last trip to the cottage, washing the car, getting your winter gear out.

It is a perfect day off and you may thank the Liberals for it for it was under the able hand of the great Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent that Thanksgiving, a holiday that had been celebrated in Canada for eons, was formalized when on January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament proclaimed:


“ A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed … to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October. ”

Good things happen under Liberal governments.

    Actually, I'll prefer to thank our soldiers in WWII who fought to keep this country free.But hey,I'm not a partisan hack so what do I know?

    I suspect that is probably the last good thing a Liberal government did. However given that we are enjoined to than God I suspect the current Liberal party would want to disown that bit of the ownership you claimed
