It is a perfect day off and you may thank the Liberals for it for it was under the able hand of the great Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent that Thanksgiving, a holiday that had been celebrated in Canada for eons, was formalized when on January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament proclaimed:
“ | A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed … to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October. | ” |
Good things happen under Liberal governments.

Actually, I'll prefer to thank our soldiers in WWII who fought to keep this country free. But hey,I'm not a partisan hack so what do I know?
ReplyDeleteI suspect that is probably the last good thing a Liberal government did. However given that we are enjoined to than God I suspect the current Liberal party would want to disown that bit of the ownership you claimed
