2123...Egg On My Face/He Didn't Mention That

In WFDS Post 2121 I rambled eloquently about the coach of the University of Ottawa Gee Gee's men's basketball team quitting and wondering where Coach DeAveiro would end up.

Apparently he forgot to include that in his note. Neate Seager's CIS Blog tells that Coach DeAveiro is going to be prowling the sidelines at McGill University in Montreal from now on.

The Athletic Director at McGill is Drew Love, the man who was smart enough to give an unknown coach a chance to lead the Ravens when he was at Carleton, has hired the University of Ottawa's ex coach.

Mr. Seager writes that "...he transformed from one of the worst teams in the country to a contender which earned CIS tournament berths in 2005, '07 and '09. One has to wonder how Ottawa athletic director Luc Gélineau can rationalize letting DeAveiro, who presided over a perennial Top 10 men's basketball team, walk away weeks after Denis Piché stepped down from a perennial Top 10 football team." He also mentions that the U of Zero's women's hockey coach, Shelley Coolidge, crossed town to coach the women's team at Carleton. Losing three young coaches; all these coaches are around 40, running programs that are wining games, lots of them, is symtomatic of culture problem at the University of Ottawa.
