Take the case of Rush Limbaugh. It has been widely reported that the hero of the right, right, right wingers in the States is part of a group that wants to buy the St. Louis Rams.
The Washington Post also reports that, although he and partner Dave Checketts should be able to come up with the billion or so required to make the deal, he may encounter employee relations issues.
Lineman Roman Oben says “If I were a free agent, it would be really hard for me to want to play for him.”
What has got Mr. Oben, and, I am certain, others, thinking less positively of Mr. Limbaugh than they would of other owners are things that Mr. Limbaugh said. The most famous/infamous of them of course is something that he blurted out when he was working for ESPN on Monday Night Football and said that Eagles QB Donovan McNabb got a lot of breaks coz of his skin colour. Mr. Limbaugh said that “The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well.”
Of course everyone knows what an easy ride the Philly QB has had during his career. Booed on draft day, the greatest QB in Syracuse Orange history has only taken the Iggles to 4 or 5 NFC championship games and one Superbowl in his decade long career. You are right Mr. Limbaugh, he is getting a lot of race related slack.
Or he is one of the all time greats.
Mr. Limbaugh has also said that “The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips, without any weapons.”
That may not go over well with his future employees either.
The St. Louis Rams do wear blue, so, if you buy them then I guess you are a Crip Mr. Limbaugh.
Plus, glass houses, Mr. Oxy, glass houses.
