Not as grand nor as high profile as the, for want of a better word, regular Olympics, nonetheless the Paralympics are special.
The Ottawa Citizen piece, which runs nation wide today, tells of Arnold Boldt of Moose Jaw, a star at the '76 Paralympics in track, who paraded the open flame on phase one of its trek across Canada. He paraded the flame in the House of Commons to the applause of our MPs.
The games start on the 12th of March and run through to the 21st. There will be about 1,000 athletes and officials coming from forty countries. They will be competing in and covering five sports in the same venues as the earlier Olympians.
