Ann Coulter, the uber hot, uber conservative, uber controversial American shiksa who was bullied out of her pulpit at the University of Ottawa this week is being welcomed with open arms at the University of Cowtown.
May be not open arms but with sufficent security.
The U of C provost Alan Harrison was quoted in the online edition of the Calgary Herald as saying that:
The purpose of a university is to encourage the exchange of ideas, said Harrison.
"To do anything other than that is to go against, I think, what the university stands for.
"Our concern is to ensure this event goes on smoothly and that she receives the same respect for her opinions as everybody else would expect to receive for their's," he said.
Harrison said it's not up to the U of C to decide in advance what Coulter might say and whether that is a promotion of hatred.
Imagine, freedom of speech, an anethma in the capital of Canada; cherished in Calgary.

She certainly a shiksa because she didn't have the chutzpa to speak in Ottawa. She is glad to stoke the fire but she is afraid of the flame.
ReplyDeleteIf Ann Coulter had had the courage of her convictions she would have spoken. If she really believes in freedom of speech she will approve of protesters. She is a coward and she ran. She has been one of those who have incited the right to make death threats against democrats and Obama. What do you think the Harper government would do to me if I said the kind of things about harper she says about Obama. I think right wing men like skinny bonds who wield verbal whips. And if they can protest in Tehran why not Canada.

She's not a moron and that's where i think you libs are underestimating her. You don't have to agree with her but she really knows her stuff and that's what catches you libs off-guard at times. Most of the time she gets her info from liberal-friendly sources like the New York Times and Washington Post and uses it against you liberal cause.

Larry, I do think she's a moron and Im a staunch conservative. I hate her because she makes an effort to fit the stereotype of conservatives made up by the liberals - rude, racist, fanatically religious and anti-scientific (by that i mean creationism, not global warming which is horseshit).
