1986...More On Ann Coulter

Geez I listened to Calgary radio this morning and read the Calgary Herald and the Calgary Sun on line and best I can figure, even though Ann Coulter spoke last night at the University of Calgary, a talk that freaked out small minded intellectuals at the University of Ottawa, the sun rose at its appointed time in Alberta, busses ran on schedule, schools were open and there was no marching in the street.

Imagine.

  1. Geez, Dan, why the hard-on for Coulter?

She shut down her own lecture in Ottawa, no one ran her off. You are stridently supporting her "free" speech rights, yet are happy to trample those of her protesters.

She has made anti-Canadian statements, and here are Canadians attending her lectures and applauding her; and here's you, going along for the ride. Why do you hate Canada, Dan?

  2. Easy sir.

Bit of a quantum leap there Mr. Raposo.

How does wanting to have free speech in my hometown translate into hating my country?

    This I gotta hear.

Coulter has made anti-Canadian comments. You have not posted any refutation of her anti-Canadian comments; you support her unfettered "right" to speak on Canadian soil, and make these same anti-Canadian comments. Therefore you hate Canada.

  4. Wow, Paul ease up on the caffeine.

You obviously know nothing about running an event. If there is even a hint of a threat an event can be called off for safety's safe.

Your liberal spin on her cancelling is pathetic. That's not how it happened.

And BTW...how did the protester's not have their freedom of speech?

  5. Leeky Sweek, I appreciate that Con-bots spend all their time trolling lib/progressive blogs and telling us how to think. However if you actually took the time to read those blogs, you'd see an abundance of evidence that Coulter and Ezra called off the event themselves. I understand that conservatives never allow facts to cloud their judgment, but nevertheless.

A security person Telling a CPC MP that the event will probably be canceled--at 5:15 PM--is a good indication that Coulter had no intention of actually being at the lecture, even before she saw her first protester. But alas, she would have had to actually be at the U of O to see protesters, rather than being ensconced in the comfort of her hotel room.

And BTW...how did the protester's not have their freedom of speech?

Where did I write that they did not?

BTW--I noticed in your profile that you are, strongly pro-Israel and pro-America, but nothing there about being strongly pro-Canada. Yet another Coulter lover, who hates Canada. A familiar meme among Cons.

  6. I run events for a living, so I know of what I speak. If there is even a whiff of possible safety or security issues, we are required to tell the client and it is then up to them. That's exactly what happened at the Coulter event. They didn't have to call it off, but after they were informed that there might be a potential for trouble, no matter how small, they were within their right to do it. Personally, I have seen events go sour when people didn't take the threat seriously enough.

And for the freedom of sppeech issue you wrote:

"You are stridently supporting her "free" speech rights, yet are happy to trample those of her protesters."

Sound like you were mentioning free speech to me.

"Yet another Coulter lover, who hates Canada."

I never said I was a Coulter lover or that I hated Canada. Typical liberal misinformation...as usual.

  7. Calling it hate and shutting down her speech before you even hear it seems a bit.. un-Canadian, wouldn't you say?

  8. I think everyone should chill. Ann Coulter is irrelevant. Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill. You're allowing her to turn ourselves against one another. That's what she wants. Ann Coulter is a self expressed enemy of the state. She should never have been allowed to speak in Canada in the interests of National Security. This blog and others are a case in point. Agree to disagree and move on.

You're not helping to stop anything with statements like that.

  10. That's exactly what happened at the Coulter event.

That's right--Coulter shut herself down. No threats; no violence; just Coulter drinking in her hotel room.

They didn't have to call it off,

But they did. On their own.

but after they were informed that there might be a potential for trouble, no matter how small, they were within their right to do it.

And what threat of violence was there, Leeky Sweeky? The non-existent Facebook threats? The 2000--or was it 170-protesters?

And you never addressed the fact that her security stated that the lecture would probably be canceled, as early as 5:15 PM. Either that person is Kreskin, or he knew Coulter was never planning to attend her own lecture.

And for the freedom of speech issue you wrote: "You are stridently supporting her "free" speech rights, yet are happy to trample those of her protesters." Sound like you were mentioning free speech to me.

What you wrote, Leeky Sweek, was this:

And BTW...how did the protester's not have their freedom of speech?

Please show me where, in the above sentence, I stated that protesters did not have their freedom of speech. I merely pointed out that Dan clearly supports Coulter's right to speak, yet denounced the protesters same right to speak. Clearly, you merely skim comments looking for buzz words to latch onto and then formulate your reply. Typical.

I never said I was a Coulter lover or that I hated Canada. Typical liberal misinformation...as usual.

Typical Con-bot spin. You are enamored with Israel and America, yet don't seem to care enough about Canada to inform those who read your profile, that you are pro-Canada. Why do conservatives hate Canada?

  11. Calling it hate and shutting down her speech before you even hear it seems a bit.. un-Canadian, wouldn't you say?

Coulter has made it clear she hates Canada. So she is hateful. Coulter shut her own lecture down, rather than face her detractors. That is cowardice. So no, no one other than Coulter and Levant acted un-Canadian in this situation.

Exactly. Coulter has made it clear she hates Canada, no one has labeled her as anything other than what she has labeled herself. We're simply pointing out that a self-confessed anti-Canadian, she should not be on Canadian soil.
