1534...Our Government In Action

Canadian Government : We'll arrest and fine anyone who collect lobsters that washed up on the beach because they weren't caught under license.

Mayor of Petit-Rocher, New Brunswick: STFU and pass the melted butter.

New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal tells that after an Atlantic storm on Saturday crustaceans began washing ashore at Petit-Rocher on the northeastern coast of the province and word spread quickly that there were lobsters to be had.

Reacting in the way that only a seasoned bureaucrat would and could, John St.-Coeur, I picture a nebbish wearing a beret smoking Gitanes when I see that name, who is a spokesman for the federal Fisheries and Oceans ministry, issued a statement warning beachcombers that they were breaking the law that says lobster can only be taken in traps by licensed fishermen during open season. Anyone else collecting lobsters could be fined $100,000.

The mayor of Petit-Rocher, Pierre Godin told the guv to STFU and, along with a thousand of his constituents, cleared the beach, added a little salt to the water and had a right good feed.
