Anonymous dropped a comment to Post 1240 re Title IX stating that he/she hopes that it extends to ski jumpers. The way I interpret Title IX is that it covers all educational things that the feds in the States participate in financially. Presumably ski jumping at the school level would be covered.
This is not just a sport law it is a book law and an auto shop law and a home economics law. If your school buys the boys a new toy to play with in auto shop it better buy the girls a new toy to play with in home ec. Back in the 1860s and 1870s when I went to high school the boys got a lot cooler toys than the girls and that was and is wrong. Plus you cannot eat anything made in shop.
Oh, and to head off the nit pickers, I know, their are girls who take shop and boys who take home ec but, generally speaking, the demos are strong male in shop and strong female home ec. Splitting hairs is tedious so stop it.
