960...Olympic Conservativism

David Atkin from Canwest News reports that, rightfully so, the Liberal Party of Canada is a bit vexed with the new Olympic logo which looks amazingly darn near identical to the Conservative Party of Canada's logo.

Vancouver Centre Liberal MP Hedy Fry asked in the House of Commons "While it is clear that the Conservative government's multimillion-dollar infrastructure campaign is crassly partisan, can the prime minister at least stop trying to politicize the Canadian Winter Olympics?"

Gary Lunn who is the the minister of state for sport, said, with a straight face, any resemblance was purely coincidental.

I was sharing a table with prominent Liberal Warren Kinsella last night who was as aghast as Ms. Fry and my remarks echo those of Minister Lunn who said that "I can assure you that no one in the Government of Canada was involved in any way, shape or form in the design of any of the Olympic clothing."

For anyone to think for a minute that the Conservatives, Stephen Harper's Conservative Party, would use the biggest stage Canada has seen in a quarter century is reprehensible.

Or, more probably it is more use of your money to make the Stephen Harper Gang look good.

You decide.
