It's the Canadian way, at least the Stephen Harper Canadian way.
Bob McCormack, the chief medical dude for the Canuckistanian Olympic team tells CBC News that the elite athletes representing our home and native land should get the H1N1 flu vaccine first.
"University of Toronto bioethicist Kerri Bowman said that when pregnant women and aboriginal communities are at a high risk of being infected by the virus, treating athletes on a priority basis could be seen as offensive."
Ms. Bowman, pay attention darling, it wouldn't be Stephen Harper's Canada if we didn't treat the better people better.

After athletes are they vaccinating the blond and blue eyed next?
ReplyDeleteI do think that we need to prioritize different groups based on their health needs. I don't think we should vaccinate athletes so that they can get their medals. I do think that they should be placed in an appropriate category if their lack of vaccination may cause health problems at an international gathering that may be high risk for the swine flu outbreak. This doesn't mean that the athletes should get their shots first--just only when higher priority communities get theirs first.
