Imagine my surprise when I discovered that in some countries women wear trousers. Called pants by many, trousers are leg coverings and were so obviously designed for men.
Lubna Hussein of Sudan was, I note in this morning's Metro, convicted yesterday of public indecency in the Sudan for pants. Using files from the Manchester Guardian and the Associated Press, Metro reports that she was sparred 40 lashes of the whip and instead was fined 200 dollars or a month in jail.
She has said "I will not pay a penny" so it is off to jail she goes.
What a country.

My christian fundamentalist nephew insists that neither his wife nor toddler daughter wear pants. Fundamentalist idiocy is alive and well in Canada too. He attends a church not too dissimilar to that of the Prime Minister.
