I know, it is barely past Labour Day but I swear to God I saw a display of Christmas items, Santa Hats most prominent, at the Shopper's Drug Mart in the Merivale Mall this morning.
Christmas seems early because you are in Ottawa (I think) and I'm in Toronto where Christmas will come later. Christmas will arrive later in Vancouver and be really late in Wasilla, Alaska.
