Muntazer al-Zaidi is the Iraqi journo who fired his size 10's, both of them, at George W. Bush's Presidential noggin last year and The Guardian this morning writes that he is poised to get out of jail on Monday and into the arms of an Iraq that loves him and his chutzpah.
He has won the love and admiration of millions for doing what many think their leaders were and are afraid of doing: standing up to the man, the real man, the President of the United States. Mr. Zaidi's act is replicated in wall murals, children's games, t shirts, it is omnipresent in the street culture of that part of the world.
The dude has hit the lottery. His boss has built him a four bedroom house. He has more cars than the winner of both showcases on Price Is Right. And many other fabulous prizes are on offer including harems, a ten million dollar offer for his shoes and, perhaps as an omage to the current POTUS, healthcare.
