A few hours ago Bob Meadows on imdb.com reported that the man who is one of the greatest centres to ever play hoop, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, announced Tuesday morning that he has cancer. The sports legend made the public disclosure nearly a year after being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia.
Mr. Abdul-Jabbar won five rings as a Los Angeles Laker and three more as a UCLA Bruin. He is also the leading scorer in the history of the NBA with over a million points.
The 62 year old was diagnosed with Cml in December 2008 and is being treated with a medicine that targets the abnormal protein that causes his leukemia.
Prayers with.

ooh, sad... definitely heart wrenching and nostalgic of his era...
ReplyDeleteI echo you on the 'prayers with' even though I'm Anglican/Episcopalian... er, 'non-catholic' group to you ;-)
K.A-J and John Wooden are the finest that sport has ever seen!!- esp. Coach Wooden: there is no greater than he! A very admirable person and very memorable quotes and lessons to learn from for sport and life in general.
