The assh*le who hacked off 22-year- old Tim McLean on a Greyhound in Manitoba a couple of years ago is getting out.
The Globe and Mail reports that Manitoba's independent Criminal Code Review Board has decided that Vince Li, currently residing at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre in southern Man, can take escorted strolls around the grounds.
This does not strike me as a good idea. And, The National Post reports that Manitoba's Attorney-General and Justice Minister Andrew Swan is also vexed by the action.
This is some serious bullsh*t.

Your comments would be interpreted as someone who is a redneck neocon by some of your own ilk.
ReplyDeleteYou do know that incarceration does not reduce the chances of reoffending blah blah blah...
Well, Anonymous, the dude cut another dude's head off.
ReplyDeleteI don't want him to be sitting next to me on the bus. Ever.

I agree. But I'd say the same about those who murder people with guns, knives etc. I am not too concerned about sub classifying these individuals.
ReplyDeleteNext you'll want to take away his pension while he's in prison.
ReplyDeletelol.
Are you serious? Hes being allowed on the grounds for a little sunshine and exercise. Even the worst of offenders deserve that much.
ReplyDeleteAnd while what Li did was gruesome he is not the "worst of offenders". Hes a schizophrenic who did what he did while in the throes of a severe psychotic episode complete with hallucinations and delusions. He is the textbook case of someone who is NCR (not criminally responsible).
Yeah he should be kept away from the public for our own safety (possibly for the rest of his life), but hes not a "criminal" in the morally culpable sense of the word.
