4674...Michael Harris Update

My dear friend [and fan] Anonymous updates the saga that is Michael Harris, ex CFRA Ottawa talker:

Here is a small comfort for those who miss Michael's brilliant and balanced program on a daily basis. He is writing for ipolitics. His column appears once a week on Wednesday morning. Superb writing and analysis which outdoes even his extremely well written books. http://www.ipolitics.ca/author/mharris/ He has just signed a contract with Penguin Books (a real publisher as opposed to Lowell Green's vanity press) to write a book on the Harper regime.

There you go.  WFDS keeping you in da loop.

  1. I just had a look at the latest Bureau of Broadcast Measurement (BBM) ratings. These ratings are what commercial radio stations use to sell advertising to sponsors and what to charge for the advertising.

CFRA’s audience share has dropped to 7.3 in the period Feb 27-April 22nd 2012 (Michael Hararis was fired Feb. 9th). That is the lowest rating since the Fall of 2007 which was 9.9 and a drop of approximately 3, 4 and 5 points over the previous 3 survey periods. The sample size is quite small so a drop of just a few points would not have been significant but an all time low since the fall of 2004 AND a 3, 4 & 5 point decline over the 3 previous most recent survey periods is very significant. It appears that he accounted for 20-25% of their audience share! No doubt they knew this as the survey is conducted by time of day – although the time of day data is not made available to the public. There is now virtually no doubt that this was a political firing. Furthermore, they now have Brian Lilley of SUN TV standing in for other hosts and making guest appearances quite frequently.
