The funding is to help six synagogues prevent property crimes that are motivated by hate to be foisted upon their houses of worship.
The story I read was in the Kingston Whig-Standard and in it they tell that "Public Safety Minister Vic Toews announced almost $90,000 for six Toronto Jewish groups to beef up their security...Toews announced the funding...on Monday inside Shaarei Shomayim Congregation. The cash, which is matched dollar-for-dollar by the qualifying organizations, goes towards security enhancements to help prevent hate crimes."
Good move by the Stephen Harpers.
