The late and great Frank Magazine used to have a heading called Remedial Media.
An example of that would be the reporting today from Texas. To wit, the nutbar pychiatrist who shot up Fort Hood, Texas today, has recently had his status upgraded from dead to not dead.
A tragedy for true; latest reports have him resting comfortably, well as comfortably as a crazy man who just murdered a dozen coworkers and is now the most hated man in the United States can.

Don't you think that name calling during such a tragedy is a little beneath your station or
ReplyDeleteis this your normal?
As much as I slag the media recently, in this case, army officials were stating publicly that the shooter was dead. So in this instance, the real limb to climb on would have been to see reporters saying "are you sure?"
ReplyDeleteTypically when an official gives the press basic details like "the shooter is dead," then they'll normally report that.
I'm curious how the Army could have thought he was dead for several hours before announcing he was in stable condition. I'm almost suspicious that they wanted everyone to think he was dead while they tried to piece together if his actions were part of some coordinated attack.
Torontonian thank you for the comment.
ReplyDeletePlease advise where I was name calling; I must have missed something.
Thanks again for reading.

ReplyDeleteWhat about the phrase "nutbar psychiatrist" particularly during such a volatile time.
Torontonian:
ReplyDeleteI don't think that referring to the Fort Hood shooter as a "nutbar psychiatrist" is anything but stating a clear fact.
The Major did murder a dozen or more innocent coworkers.
Nutbar.
