719...Jason Kenney Makes Us All Proud

Proud to be Canadians.

Our beloved Immigration Minister is protecting our home and native land by keeping it free from undesirables.

Undesirables like blind grandmother Stefania Elzbieta Magdziak who is being deported back to Poland today.

Best I can figure from Tom Godfrey's story in this morning's Toronto Sun, Mrs. Magdziak showed up for a visit in '98 and decided to stay, primarily because her two children are legally here and she wanted to be close to them and her six grandchildren. She claims that she did not get proper paper work because of an unscrupulous immigration agent blah blah blah.

Bottom line is, she is out of her, gone, gone like Jesse James, history, say hi to everyone in Poland for us when you get off the plane.

Here is how I figure it. Why bother Hon. Jason? Why? I know, rules be rules but seriously, why do we have so many damn immigration rules? Why don't we do like we did back in the day, like a century or more back in the day and let everyone who wants in this great country, in.

609...Tasers In The News Part One

In the wake of the British Columbia inquiry into the tasering to death of near immigrant [remember, he hadn't even cleared customs yet] and Polish citizen, Robert Dziekanski, police forces across the land are instituting rules on the use of Tasers.

What the f'k was going through their heads previously, I mean you give the police a toy that sends a gazillion volts [or amps or something] through 'dirt bags', and let them use it at their own discretion, i.e., no rules and then, eek, someone gets killed and there is some sort of suprise.

Now there are rules and, according to Dawn Walton's story in Saturday's Globe and Mail, they are going to be enforced in Alberta or else. Or else, something.

Beauty.

241...Global Village Basketball, Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the day, June 10th, 2009, the day for Global Village Basketball.

It is an unusual first time event that is linking together various pickup games of basketball through the Internet into one big meta-game by adding all the scores together.

Bouncing out of Toronto, Ontario, organizer Sean Smith has video commitments from such disparate places as China, Uruguay and Poland.
