765...Why So Hard On Elizabeth May?

I really enjoy it when you take time to comment and I especially enjoy it when you take time to sign your name to said comment. This is what the great Scott Tribe asked me in a comment attached to Post 760:

I'm kind of amused you're going after Elizabeth May so hard.
She's not the leader of the Conservatives.. or of the NDP,
nor does she have a seat. Why do you hold such an antipathy towards her?

As a Liberal who is environmetally [sic] conscious, despite
the Green Shift's failure, I don't mind having her as an ally.

I go after her for the same reason that fighter pilots liked to shoot up weather balloons and Zeppelins. It is easy.

I too am a Liberal, big time Liberal but frankly I don't find the Green Party very progressive; they are truly neo-cons/fascists. Read their national platform; it is very Lennonist, as in John "Everybody Is Wrong But Me" Lennon.

389...Michael Jackson Died Thursday

Ladies and gentlemen, Michael Jackson died Thursday.

Radio died right along with him. Most radio stations just kept John Tesh rolling, Ryan Seacrest babbling and voice tracking mindlessly ploughing through the playlist.

When John Lennon and Elvis Presley died, decades before consolidation, national program directors and big chains controlling everything from Toronto, Montreal, New York and Los Angeles most stations were immediately broadcasting on-air tributes, news accounts and playing wall-to-wall dead guy music.

In my town the only station that I heard going wall to wall Michael was the station that I am with, 93.1CKCU, which has, and this is a positive, a laissez faire attitude towards programming. Although the hit stations in town, TAG FM, KISS and HOT did talk about Michael Jackson they also played the songs that were programmed weeks, days, months ago. If anything, CFRA, the local right wing news talker and CBC ONE, the lefty news talker, were more on the story than the contemporary stations.

Not hating, just stating.

Score one for local TV, like Local4 in Detroit, stations that were out on the street in their towns and a big one for the Internet.

84...Porn on the Radio: Wednesday 93.1

CKCU, I will be talking to Jill Nelson, the author of the new book about a man who was a sexual superstar, and is now dead guy who, like Elvis, JFK and John Lennon, has become a legend that seemingly will live forever. Her tome is John Holmes: A Life Measured in Inches and she will be joining me tomorrow morning after six.

My good friend tic's dog Ellie passed this week and he is feeling the pain. I will be filling in for him, making me a radio star from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Helping me fill the time with quality talk will be erstwhile political candidate Blake Batson and Cat Lane, who is a dog nutritionist and will let you know how to give your puppy a long fruitful life like Ellie had for 16 bird and squirrel chasing years.

Scott Broderick will be joining me by phone around 8 30 a.m. to talk about his company's billboard and web campaign http://thisaintflint.ca/. Iffen you are in Ottawa you have seen the posters and billboards, now, wtf is all about? Find out from the man behind it, NewCaps [Hot 89.9 and Live 88.5] Ottawa's General Manager when he talks to me, the World Famous Dan Shields on 944 Rogers, 93.1 FM, Radio Carleton, CKCU.

After nine I will be talking to the face of Flint, Jerry Preston, about why thisaintflint.ca is kind of mean spirted and why you should load the family unit into the minivan and make your way to Flint, Michigan this summer for some realllllllllllll fun. Only an hour west of Sarnia on I-69, Flint has something for everyone, apparently. We will see. It is the gateway to Saginaw and that is where the Gears are sooooooooooo.
