I tell you where I would not hide.

Israel.

The Jerusalem Post reports that a high-ranking white supremacist on the run from US federal authorities was arrested on Monday night in a south Tel Aviv hideout.

33-year-old Micky Louis Mayon, one of America's 100 most wanted criminals is wanted in the US on charges of racist assaults, setting fire to vehicles belonging to federal agents, and a host of violent incidents.

Just your basic alleged racist piece of human garbage, Mr. Mayon is.

He entered Israel on a visitor's visa in January of 2008 and overstayed his visa.

About four months ago, Mayon entered into a romantic relationship with a Jewish Israeli woman, who became pregnant one month ago.

Mayon did not tell his partner that he was a wanted KKK member back in the US. That would spoil the mood.

However, after learning that his girlfriend was pregnant, Mr. Mayon decided it was time to reveal his dark past to her. Not suprisingly she reacted with shock and went on to tip off the authorities to her beau's whereabouts.

Then she took a shower. A very, very, very long shower.

That said, I don't want Canada's democracy to fall into the pattern that Italy had before electoral reform and Silvio Berlusconi's charisma changed the face of their elected houses and Israel has, that being repeated elections that come up with minority government after minority government.

Tom Flanagan, Tory operative and poli sci prof at the University of Calgary writes in today's Globe and Mail that the cycle of minority governments "...could go on for a long time...the NDP winning 20 or 30 seats...Bloc winning 40 or 50, it's almost impossible for either the Liberals or Conservatives to get a majority...there just aren't enough seats in play for either to win 155...for the last five years [government] has been a condominium project of the two big parties."

The one good thing about this Liberal-Conservative, Conservative-Liberal sorta coalition is that it is not, like in the Israel's Knesset, a case of the tail wagging the dog.
