Ah, those crazy Tories.
Always trying to save money for Canuck taxpayers but ending up costing us shekels in the long run.
In Janice Tibbetts story in today's National Post Public Safety Minister Vic Toews panders to the Tory base when he "...says doublebunking in Canadian prisons 'is not a big deal'". Critics say it is and they say that putting two dangerous dudes in one room not only contradicts the government's own policy it is also bound to breed more penitentiary violence.
Like, doh.
The scribe goes on to write that "Mr. Toews, since assuming the public safety portfolio in January, has spoken in favour of double-bunking as a solution to ease prison overcrowding, which is expected to escalate in the coming years as a result of new and pending federal laws to put more people in prison and to keep them there longer."
Okay, guys, this putting people in prison bullsh*t doesn't work. The United States is proof.
Like, doh.
