Le Droit this morning runs a story that there is a heavyweight battle to take place in Marlene Catterall's old riding of Ottawa West Nepean in the upcoming federal election.
The sitting Member is John Baird, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and he will be challenged yet again by David Pratt, former Minister of Defense under Prime Minister Paul Martin.
Honourable Conservative John Baird versus Honourable Liberal David Pratt.
Mr. Baird beat Mr. Pratt in 2008 by about 5,000 votes.
That was then.

WWL Radio in New Orleans, btw it is the CFRB, CFRA, CJAD, CKNW, WJR, you get the idea I think, of Nawlins, WWL AM and FM's Dave Cohen reports that the District Attorney of New Orleans, Leon Cannizzaro, in a Paul Martinesque move, is of the mind that trying pot smokers at the state level in New Orleans is passe.
He would like marijuana charges to be moved from the state docket to the municipal docket.
The D.A. wanted to make it clear that he doesn't want this to be misinterpreted. "I am not here advocating the legalization or decriminalization of marijuana in any way whatsoever," he told the council. Furthermore he pointed out that the maximum penalty for simple marijuana possession would remain six months in jail and/or a $500 fine.
State judges, not surprisingly, are against such a move, primarily I would think because it would mean less work for them and less work equals less money.

483...Gay Tory Parliamentarian Supports Minister
A gay member of the Conservative caucus is applauding junior cabinet minister Diane Ablonczy's financial support for Toronto's Pride Week, a decision that put Miss Ablonczy in the hot seat with some social conservatives.
Jennifer Ditchburn in the Canadian Press writes that Senator Nancy Ruth...W A I T...a lesbian in the Tory caucus? Shut the f'k up. What are you talking about? There must be a catch.
As it turns out, there is.
Senator Ruth was appointed by the man who gave gays the right to marry, Prime Minister Paul Martin, as an independent and then inexplicably, like honestly, what were you thinking woman? joined the Conservative Party of Canada.
This is why Senators should be elected not appointed for virtually all their lives.
She must be high or something, honestly.
And she goes on to say that she knows that some in her own caucus, that is people on her team don't approve of the fact she doesn't play on their team.
Holy mother of God.
