CTV.ca reported Friday that the feds won't kick 400K Pride's way in Toronto.
Does this make them homophobic? No.
Dumb yes, but homophobic, I don't think so.
Pride in Toronto is a big deal and I would think that it interjects tons of cash into the economy and dropping a few shekels into their coffers ain't gonna hurt. I know it doesn't appeal to your base Mr. Harper but queers are citizens of Canuckistan too, eh?

ReplyDeleteYou're right, Dan, they're not homophobic; they're anti-gay.
Funding parades, shows, events, "culture", advocacy groups, etc. is not the job of the Federal Government. If the event is "good for the local economy" then the local or provincial government fund it if they choose. No advocacy group should received a nickel of tax payer money. Let those for whom they advocate pay the bill. I don't care if the advocate for gender based issues, race based issues, political issues, right, left or cent re or anything else. I can see no reason why tax dollars should be used to try to influence political debate.
