If one is to believe Greg Weston in today's Sun newspapers, the Liberal Party of Canada is at the exact same spot in the polls as they were when Stephane Dion went to the polls.
Give it a week for the next Ekos poll and it will reveal what Canadians think of an election right now. I know Angus Reid did one right away, but I don't think the reality had sunk in yet. With the press working this story over, and Ingatieff's ads coming out, people will KNOW there is an election coming, and if history is any indicator, they will punish the ones who call it.
While many may have criticized Harper calling the last one, the fact remains that he lost support because of it and that might have cost him a majority. Ignatieff needs to go to the polls with more than good intentions if he wants to do better than Dion.
The Liberals have better financials. The rest is too early until I can find official numbers from Elections Canada.
ReplyDeleteI am not confident the Rosedale Gang vs the nervous nellies not wanting to fight a campaign is different.
Dion did have the same resistance.
I do not think the pundits and the Media will be as patient regarding the campaign refusing to give out details.
I don't think wait and see until the Writ is dropped will work.
