Yesterday was a painful day for Romell Broom, a convicted rapist and killer, who was to be killed by the state of Ohio yesterday afternoon in Lucasville. Mr. Broom, 53, killed a 14 year old girl a quarter century ago.
Amsterdam News.net reports that the executioner of Mr. Broom could not find a vein to put the needle in that was to kill the killer. And they looked. For more than two hours they tried to find a place to insert the catheter that would send Mr. Broom to the next dimension. Nothing.
Authorities have said they will need to come up with a solution so Broom can be put to death by lethal injection in the state's official execution chamber and have given him a one week reprieve.
This has to be incredibly painful for all involved and brings to mind this quote from Amnesty International:
Amnesty International secretary general Irene Khan.
