I honestly don't know who is dumber, renegade British Catholic Bishop Richard Williamson or the German Courts.
The not so good Reverend Williamson is a holocaust denier. In January of 2009 he was interviewed on TV and Agence France-Presse reports that he said that only [only?] "two hundred to three hundred thousand Jews had perished in Nazi concentration camps" and he also disputed the existence of the gas chambers. He had made the statement to a Swede TV crew in Regensburg, Germany so the Germans ruled that Germany's strict laws against denying the slaughter of the Jews applied to the Bishop.
Denying history is dumb.
But denying free speech is just as bad.
Free speech, like cancer and pregnancy, is a black and white issue. Either you is or you ain't. And the fact is that free speech laws should not be there to protect those who speak reasonably and follow consensus; they are there to protect morons like Bishop Williamson, idiots who deny the Holocaust.
Free speech should be free.
Dumb and dumber.
