Montreal, which is one of the biggest Italian communities in the world that is not in the boot, is home to A Liberal MP wants Parliament to issue an official apology and pay restitution for the internment of Italian-Canadians during World War II.
Front section of the Toronto Star Saturday, The Saturday Star, reports that Liberal Member of Parliament Massimo Pacetti from St. Leonard has sponsored a private member's bill that would require the government to issue a formal apology in the House of Commons.

If the bill passes it would also require the government to set up a commemoration and education fund, worth about $2.5 million and it would require Canada Post to issue a commemorative stamp.
Mr. Pacetti's bill, which passed second reading last June, is to be put to a
final vote next week.
Better late than not.
