Would someone please let Ian Morrison from the Friends of Canadian Television in on the fact that among the tax paying, entertainment loving citizens in Canada, English Canada, no one would miss Canadian TV provided that they could get hockey and a bit of national news somewhere. And I betcha we could do without the news. Case in point comes from the Lite 92 Regina website. Their Morning Show With Greg and Lisa has a list of links to TV shows:
* 24
* Access Hollywood
* CSI
* Deperate Housewives [sic]
* Dr. Phill [sic]
* Entertainment Tonight
* Food TV
* Grey’s Anatomy
* House
* Lite92FM website
* Oprah
* TMZ
With the possible exception of Food TV [I don't get that channel] all these shows are American or, in the case of Entertainment Tonight, a knock of of an American standard.
Sorry Mr. Morrison, Canuck TV disappears, all good as long as we get to keep ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX.
Plus they have a nice little poll running re the TV tax that the CRTC says we will all just suck it up and pay:
Question of the Day
Do you think the Feds should monitor and charge your household for internet use?
If it'll help cut the deficit, great! (8.3%)
What's next? Tax my TV viewing habits? This is an outrage! (91.7%)
Maybe people on the CRTC and people like Mr. Morrison are living in a latte bubble?

I want a Canadian version of the Daily Show...trust me, we have more than enough material to work with!
ReplyDeleteIt's like the production value of our shows and talent of our writers is really low or something. Im guessing the best go to the states to get paaaaaaaaaid.
ReplyDeleteThat said, Corner Gas wasn't typically cheesy Canuck BS. Even if you didn't like the show it was really well made.
