The city of Ottawa is just sizzling over the announcement today, an announcement that doesn't come as a huge suprise to anyone, that former mayor Jim Watson wants to become mayor of Bytown one more time.
Mr. Watson, who is currently the MPP for Ottawa West-Nepean and in Dalton McGuinty's Ontario cabinet as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, was mayor before and liked the job so much that he quit 2/3s of the way through his term.
He is immediately the front runner but, and for the record if the election were held today [or when it is held in October], he will get my vote, but recall that it was pretty much in the bag for Alex Munter [who's dat?] last time in Ottawa and on a grander scale, Hillary Clinton was picking her cabinet in January of '08. Neither were elected.
