According to The Atlantic "It's not quite Aporkalypse, now." In fact there is a glut in piggy parts going on right now.
But next year.
Pig herds are down in the States and in the EU there is a sow shortage. This summer's drought has driven the prize of maize and soy through the roof and pig farmers are paying for the feed by feeding their pigs to the slaughterhouse. Supply exceeds demand and that is good for bacon lovers like moi.
"But it has also set the stage for a rebound in prices next year,. US per-capita pork supply -- what a great statistic -- is set this year to be its lowest since 1975."
Eat that slab of bacon now while you can afford it hombre.
