The leader of Canada's number fourth political party, the New Democrats, Jack Layton, was on the tube this morning giving his year end presser.
Apparently they, the Dips, says Jack Layton, they are on the cusp of a huge, i mean h u g e, like ridiculously l a r g e, breakthrough.
I have heard this song before from some other warblers at the front of the NDP, starting with Tommy Douglas and running through David Lewis, Ed Broadbent, Alexa McDonough and and and.
Never going to happen of course; the NDP are perennially on the verge of breaking through 'cept it never happens.
