Buried on page 4 of the Calgary Herald is a piece about how the New Democrats are serious about changing the Senate.
"Canadians should vote in a special referendum -possibly as soon as the next federal election -on whether to abolish the Senate, says the federal NDP. The proposal is contained in a motion proposed by the party that will be debated Tuesday in the House of Commons."
Changing it real good; like getting away with it.
Cool beans.
"Layton describes the Senate as a collection of unelected political cronies thwarting the will of the House of Commons." Unelected cronies of the Reds and the Blues. No Ed Broadbent in the upper chamber but lotsa guys that played golf with the boss.
Brian Lilley reminds us that "When Harper was in opposition, he promised to never appoint someone to the Senate. He has appointed 36 Tories to the Senate since taking power."
