Post 217 alluded to the fact that Bring Your Gun To Church Day is coming fast.
The date has been fixed for the big day at New Bethel Church in Wilmington, Kentucky. It will be the last Saturday of June, the 27th.
The genius behind this event, safety first by the way, no loaded guns and no concealed guns, is Pastor Ken Pagnano. I first heard of this story when cruising Louisville, Kentucky TV station, WAVE3's website and was amazed both by the story and by Pastor Pagnano's shrewd reasoning regarding the event. He says that it is not about a show of arms but a show of love for the United States Constitution, especially the Second Amendment.
Proving that he is not only about guns, Pastor Pagano is encouraging church members to bring a canned good and a friend to the event. He said guns must be unloaded for insurance purposes and safety reasons. Again the point was not to mix worship with guns. "Firearms can be evil and they can be useful," he said. "We're just trying to promote responsible gun ownership and gun safety." And collect food for the poor.
