My understanding is, and I got this from Bill Maher on HBO so if it is wrong, don't plotz, but my understanding is that General Motors was spending more on Health Care in the United States than on steel.
That is wrong.
And uncompetitive.
Jim Sinegal, CEO of Costco was quoted regarding universal health care on www.fastcompany.com "We should have it. I think that in the wealthiest nation in the world, it's a shame and disgrace that we don't. We try to provide a very comprehensive health-care plan for our employees. Costs keep escalating, but we think that's an obligation on our part."
Another thing Wall Street rails against, health care, and another misguided move on their part.
