Phil Fontaine, Assembly of First Nations National Chief, yesterday announced that he won't be running for reelection this year.
He seemed to be a really cool guy who was constantly striving for his constituency and I have to think that he will be missed greatly.
In personal interactions with him, at cocktail parties and at the YMCA on Argyle in Ottawa, he always seemed relieved that all I wanted to do was say hello and ask him about the weather. Years of always being 'on' must take their toll on true public servants like the Chief.
He is still relatively young, mid sixties, and will definitely kick at what ever he decides to do next.

He would be a great Liberal MP and a great Minister too.
