968...Don't Let The Door Hit You On The Way Out

J. P.Ricciardi, who, as Shi Davidi of the Canadian Press writes in a story bylined less than an hour ago, has been blown out of his position as GM with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The firing of Mr. Ricciardi is a fitting "...ending an eventful eight-year reign marked by frequent controversy and mediocre teams never good enough to reach the post-season."

Translation: he sucked.

The Jays said that vice-president of baseball operations and assistant general manager and, bonus, Montreal native Alexander Anthopoulos, will take over for Ricciardi whose firing was predicted by many including myself.

930...More Good News For Toronto

It looks like J. P. Riccardi, the boy wonder who wasn't wonderful, is on his way out of the Big Smoke.

Steve Simmon's Last Word piece in the Sun papers today leads with "The sure to be fired J. P. Ricciardi is adamant the Blue Jays can't ever compete in the American League East because of the high spending New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox."

Great attitude, eh?

Don't let the door hit you too hard on your way out.

671...Should He Stay Or Should He Go Go?

Cito Gaston.

I say stay.

The Ottawa Sun has a small story this morning in which the winningest, over 800 wins, manager in the history of the Toronto Blue Jays says he and they are undecided about 2010 but that he is pretty sure that 2010 is the end of the road for Cito.

As for J. P. Ricciardi...
