It was with great pleasure that I bought a ticket for my daughter to attend with me, the federal Liberal Stampede breakfast last Saturday morning. It was a wonderful opportunity for her to hear an intelligent leader who is interested in uniting Canada, not causing divisions by running attack ads filled with misinformation; to hear a leader who isn't afraid to surround himself with competent, experienced people, not one that exhibits poor judgment in his cabinet appointments; to hear a leader who respects the democratic process, not one who makes every effort to govern by executive fiat. Michael Ignatieff understands the meaning of human rights and the legal rights of Canadian citizenship. It is incumbent on me to introduce my daughter to a higher level of thinking than that exhibited by the governing party. How very conservative of Karin Klassen to attack the individual when she can't think of anything intelligent to say.

471...400 Large For Pride: First Time, Last Time?

Stephen Harper ponied up 400 000 shekels for Toronto Pride and this morning's Toronto Star reports that the "contribution provoked a backlash from within the ranks of MPs and Conservative supporters."

OMG.

Really?

You mean to tell me that there are rednecks, er, homophobes, in the Conservative ranks?

OMG.

Really?

Darren Cunningham, a spokesman for Industry Minister Tony Clement, yesterday said that future financial help for Toronto's Pride Week was "under review" but said that was not directly related to Conservative dissent.

I love it when they lie but seem so sincere doing so.

Mr. Cunningham says that "We're in the midst of doing a review...to ensure that the funding is providing genuine stimulus to the economy..." including reflecting federal support of the Calgary Stampede and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, support that, for example, faces the same review.

Yeah, surrrrre.

447...It Is Also Stampede Sunday In Calgary

The Prime Minister and future Calgary realtor of the year, Stephen Harper, along with the next Prime Minister of Canada, Michael Ignatieff, have been out politicking like mad men at the summer fiesta.

Basically it breaks down like this:

Stephen Harper: We doing good.

Michael Ignatieff: They doing bad.

Garnered from various sources.
