437...Watermelon May Be Nature's Viagra

Find out tomorrow from noon to 5 at St. Luke's Park, Frank Street between Elgin and Cartier in Ottawa when Yasir Naqvi, the Ottawa Centre MPP, puts on a bbq/basketball game that features, among other things, 20 watermelons.

The thing in watermelon that helps prevent erectile dysfunction is citrulline; it might not only treat erectile dysfunction but also help prevent it. In the body, citrulline is converted to arginine, an amino acid known to improve the heart and circulatory system and to boost the immune system. Dr. Bhimu Patil, director of Texas A&M’s Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center in College Station has done extensive research on the subject. Newsmax.com quotes him as saying “We’ve always known that watermelon is good for you, but the list of its very important healthful benefits grows longer with each study.”

Just one more thing that MPP Naqvi is doing for the community.

302...Sex And Computers But No Porn

Men, your laptop could be frying your boys.

Dr. Suzanne Kavic, MD, director of the division of reproductive endocrinology at the university and associate professor at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, a good Catholic school that won the NCAA Basketball Championship in the early 1960's, says that keeping your laptop in your lap, the way the World Famous Dan Shields does, can damage sperm, decrease sperm counts and motility of the sperm.

In the Newsmax.com story, Dr. Kavic recommends not putting the laptop in your lap. The Dr. has other tips to keep boy parts in good shape:
  • Avoiding hot tubs
  • Using boxers over briefs
  • Refraining from ejaculating too frequently (the recommendation is to engage in sexual intercourse only every other day around ovulation)
  • Exercising moderately (one hour, three to five times a week)
  • Avoiding exercise that can generate heat or trauma to the genital area
  • Eating well
  • Taking a daily multivitamin
  • Getting eight hours of sleep a night
  • Staying hydrated and limiting caffeine to no more than two cups a day
  • Refraining from smoking
  • Avoiding drugs and excessive alcohol use
  • Minimizing exposure to toxins
  • Avoiding excessive weight gain or weight loss
  • Practicing stress reduction techniques

Eighty per cent of fertility issues are attributed to males.

I guess that explains why I am alone on Father's Day.

241...Global Village Basketball, Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the day, June 10th, 2009, the day for Global Village Basketball.

It is an unusual first time event that is linking together various pickup games of basketball through the Internet into one big meta-game by adding all the scores together.

Bouncing out of Toronto, Ontario, organizer Sean Smith has video commitments from such disparate places as China, Uruguay and Poland.
