1868...Leaving On A Jet Plane

Now, personally I don't have a problem with this, especially since, as Minister Jim Flaherty's spokesman Mike Storeshaw pointed out, the jet only costs a tad over a grand an hour to operate, but the optics for the Stephen Harper's are a bit wonky.

The finance minister's office says that Jim Flaherty flew on a government jet for a Canada AM photo-op at a Tim's in London, Ontario Friday last. Problem was it was not a Challenger jet, the one that ministers normally use when commercial flights are not avail; the minister grabbed a Transport Canada jet.

David McGuinty, Liberal MP Ottawa South, pointed out that if he really wanted to go to a Tim's for a photo op he coulda hit the one a few blocks from the Hill. Or he could of taken a Greyhound to London. If rubbing shoulders with Canadians is Mr. Flaherty's thing the confines of a Greyhound is just the ticket.
